What can we do?? Quite a lot of different things really and they can really make a difference. We have already seen results of collective power in 2009. Have a look at the following list:
LEARN HOW TO REPORT WAR CRIMES:
- Whether we agree entirely with the judicial system or not, it would seem that many world leaders are not working in accordance with it. Many innocent people are convicted out on the streets for protesting peacefully. What is happening to our democracy? It is critical that we use the War Laws, as they were intended, to bring war criminals to justice.
LOBBY MP'S:
- Your local MP will hold a surgery, usually every fortnight. Book in with them, ask them if they would be willing to start a peace group with you (or invite them to WOW if they are a woman). Tell them about the laws of war, let them know that it is a matter of urgency, that the process toward ending war will quicken with them on your side. If they voted for the war, they can take action to repent! There is a document on the Make Wars History website which outlines action they can take in this case.
BOYCOTT THE ARMY:
- If anyone you know is in the forces or thinking about joining, make it your personal responsibility to change their mind, give them other options, express your grievance, that you don't want them to get hurt. We can arrange peaceful protests at local army careers offices.
BOYCOTT THE ARMS INDUSTRY:
- This would be hand in hand with a tax strike. Contact arms manufacturers in London and across the world. Merge with other groups like CND to arrange protests
WITHHOLD TAX:
- Please visit Make Wars History website for details. Once we get one successful tax striker, it will be easier for everyone to follow. Watch this space!
MARCH:
- March in your local area with your WOW group. We can also arrange monthly action in London via meetup (this has worked so well for TruthAction recently). Marching will make our presence known across the country. We need banners, whistles, arm bands etc. Bring the kids and buggies and make it a day out!
SET UP A GROUP:
- Hold meetings, promote, determine action from your home town!
DONATE MONEY:
- We need some income so we can promote through media such as flyers, posters, web, newspapers and magazines. We aim to supply comprehensive details of income and expenditure so that YOU know exactly how YOUR money is being used. Hopefully we can include a "Donate" button on the website in the near future.
