Calling on all non-activists for Peace! Prepare yourselves. What would you do for Peace? Would you pledge to take a day off between March 25th and March 31st and just lie in bed? Would you bombard Facebook with your thoughts on Peace? Would you photograph or video yourself in bed for Peace and add it to your YouTube or Facebook profile? Would you start your own blog and update it every hour to tell us what it is like lying in bed for as many days as you can? Would you read about Peace, sing about Peace, write about Peace or think about Peace? We are commemorating the 40th anniversary of the world famous Peace Bed-In by John and Yoko by lying in bed. Not enough has changed. Its time to refresh the message and remind our governments that their power is in the people - and the people want PEACE. At this present time we have about 2000 people prepared to stand up – or rather lie down – for Peace. It is not much in the vast scale of things, but it is a start. In future years it will grow. As one member said to us , ‘Wouldn’t it be amazing if everyone in the world stayed in bed that day, we could bring the world to a standstill just by staying in bed. They would have to listen then.’ |
There is only one way to find out. Join the Great Peace Bed-In and pledge a day for Peace. You can find us in Facebook at
Peace deserves your help. To join this worldwide movement and pledge one day off for Peace please email your name and postcode by clicking here.
If you’re slightly non-activist perhaps you will invite your local paper along or your local radio station and help us to flood the media.

'But don’t just think about Peace. Think about war. Look at the images. Don’t shy away. What right have we to allow such suffering? It is us. It is we who allow this by sitting in our cosy homes and doing nothing.’ | ![]() |
If you want to do more, then grab a bed and Push for Peace. Push a bed through your local town centre and collect money for the Peace campaign. Move into your local Arts Centre or Town Hall (with their permission) and have a public Peace Bed –In.
. . . and contact us for posters, banners , flags and postcards. Contact us anyway. We’d love to hear your thoughts and ideas. But most of all we want you to STAY IN BED.
We are all John and Yoko. Check out www.imaginepeace.com
Peace needs help. Please help by inviting your friends, colleagues and family to join this group. Spread the word throughout the organisations you belong to – book clubs, student groups, charities and social clubs. You can choose any of the dates, please send your pics so that we can make an album. Book the day off at work, get your boss to join in too!
Spread the word.
Peace is the word.
A message from Pippa:
“Wiser people than me have said that Peace begins from within. Only when we have our own Peace can we start to spread Peace and to teach Peace. This we must do in every step we make, every breath we take. It is not easy because from an early age we are subject to violence in one form or another all the time - from the childhood playground to the TV and many points in between. We have to have Peace ourselves and we have to teach it. We have to spread the word to our friends and family in all that we do - this is not easy. From time to time we must join with others to make public our request for Peace because keeping it to your own small circle is not enough. At these times we have to think up something big - like the Great Peace Bed-In 2009! We are also trying to get a window in a department store to do a public Bed-In! Different Ideas work in different places. You have to be your own leader. Namaste, and thank you. xx”
Do not despair. If the March dates are difficult for you there is a second chance to pledge yourself to Peace from 26th May until 2nd June 2009. John and Yoko did it twice - so can we!
By joining this group you pledge to spend at least one day in bed. Make Peace by clicking here and adding your name and postcode to the message. Peace deserves your help.
